LAURENTIC / SPARTAN REEFER

BUILT BY VICKERS ARMSTRONG IN NEWCASTLE, IN 1965. LAURENTIC WAS THE SISTER SHIP TO THE 'ZEALANDIC '.THE TOP PICTURE SHOWS HER AT NEWHAVEN.THE SECOND PICTURE DOWN SHOWS LAURENTIC AT NAPIER  IN 1973 AND THE THIRD PICTURE DOWN SHOWS LAURENTIC AT AUCKLAND IN MAY 1976. IN 1980 SHE WAS SOLD TO A GREEK COMPANY AND RE-NAMED 'SPARTAN REEFER'. SHE WAS SCRAPPED IN PAKISTAN IN 1984.

The above four photographs were supplied by Tim Kirby, who was an Engineer Cadet on the Laurentic from 1-2-1978 to 30-6-1978. The pictures were taken on a trip from Sheerness to Gulfport, Tampa, Rotterdam, LeHavre, and Sheerness. After
this trip we went through the St Lawrence and Great Lakes to Kenosha Wisconsin, LeHavre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Sheerness. Laurentic was chartered by Uiterwyk Line of Gulfport for this period
